It is named after the legend that the Yellow Emperor once practiced Taoism and refined elixirs here. Huangshan is renowned worldwide for its magnificent, elegant, and picturesque scenery, as well as being a nationally significant scenic area rich in resources, complete in ecology, and of great scientific and ecological value. It is a World Cultural and Natural Heritage site and has been listed in the World Heritage List.
Over 100 million years ago, during the crustal movement, Huangshan rose above the surface. Later, shaped by the Quaternary glacial period, it became the magnificent and towering mountain it is today, piercing through the clouds with its peaks.
