Its educational ideal is not aimed at any specific major and does not overly emphasize design applications, aiming to develop learners' thinking, creative, and hands-on abilities, ultimately achieving the transition from concept to practice. Design fundamentals training helps aspiring design students break free from their existing habitual thinking patterns, gradually transforming from a "natural person" mindset to a "designer" mindset. Therefore, it is an innovative preliminary education aimed at cultivating outstanding design talents. Design sketching is a sketching form guided by design concepts, involving various sketching practices and creative activities with the teaching objective of art and design. For a long period, design disciplines' sketching teaching followed the content and methods of disciplines. In teaching, we have deeply felt the continuous disconnection and contradictions between sketching teaching aimed at cultivating concrete painting abilities and sketching teaching aimed at training abstract forms and design concepts in terms of concepts, objectives, and methods. How to make sketching become a training for the essence of design creation rather than just an artificial artistic expression training becomes a crucial issue that design teaching and research must address. In the past decade, design fundamentals researchers and practitioners have actively explored the concepts, objectives, methods, and significance of sketching training as the foundation of design education from the end of design practice, the beginning of design education, and the various problems encountered in design thinking and creation.
