Features: Chinese missionary universities are products of modern Sino-Western cultural exchange, and their development and changes are an important part of the history of this exchange. Although the number of Chinese missionary universities is not large, they have played a certain (demonstrative and guiding role) in the modernization of Chinese education, cultivating a group of outstanding professionals and thus having a profound impact on Chinese academia and society. At the same time, for many Westerners, missionary universities have also served as another window to observe and understand Chinese culture and society. Today, in the 21st century, we review the history of Chinese missionary universities with a calm and prudent attitude, which can also be seen as reopening a window to understand the history of modern Chinese education and the history of cultural exchange. Wu University: Buxie Tianxizhuang primarily introduces the history of Wu University. Wu University originated from the Cunyang College established in Suzhou in 1876, which moved to Tianxizhuang three years later. Later, it expanded to become Buxie College and merged with Zhongxi College and Gongxiang College, officially establishing [Buxie] and [Zhongxi] Wu University in 1900.
