Auguste Rodin (1840–1917) was a distinguished French realist sculptor. A modern European sculptural giant and the synthesizer of Western traditional sculpture art. Born into a humble family in Paris, he entered a school of industrial arts at the age of 14 but dropped out due to financial hardship. He attempted to enter the National Academy of Fine Arts three times but was not admitted. Later, he studied under Barri and worked in Carriès-Beuret's workshop, creating decorative sculptures in Brussels. In 1875, he traveled to Italy and was deeply inspired by Michelangelo's works, which helped him establish a realistic artistic style. He passed away in 1917. His artistic ideas had a significant impact on Western art. Representative works include The Age of Bronze, The Thinker, Hugo, The Burghers of Calais, and Balzac.
