Features: Inductive reasoning and inductive methods are widely used in everyday thinking and scientific research. However, Hume's skepticism about induction led to it being called "the shame of philosophy," and the defense of induction gave rise to modern inductive logic. This book traces the development of probability logic as a, systematically introducing the theories of various schools of modern inductive logic, including: the inductive theories of Keynes and Carnap, representatives of the logical Bayesian school; the inductive theories of the Finnish school; the inductive theories of Reichenbach, a representative of the empiricism school; the inductive theories of subjective Bayesianism; and von Wright's exclusion inductive method theory. The book also introduces the application of subjective probability—Bayesian decision theory—as well as various theories about inductive acceptance. From the above theories, one can roughly see the mainstream of 20th-century inductive logic development.
