How to treat hand, foot, and mouth disease

Patient's question:

On August 4th, the hand, foot, and mouth disease broke out, and during the medication period, it was a persistent low fever until August 7th when the high fever did not subside. The blisters on the mouth, hands, and legs had already formed scabs, and there were no longer any in the mouth.

Doctor's answer:

For acute-phase symptoms such as low-grade fever or no fever, runny nose, cough, sore throat, or poor appetite and nausea, the "Yinqiao Powder" formula can be used. If there is persistent high fever, dense distribution of sores on the mouth, hands, feet, buttocks, and limbs, the "Qingwen Baaidu Yin" formula can be used. For complications such as unrelenting high fever and frequent coughing with shortness of breath, the "Jizhao Lianhuang Wan combined with Shenfu Tang" formula can be used.
During the recovery phase of the illness, for children with dry mouth and sore throat, Shachen Maidong Tang can be adjusted by adding Shengdihuang (Fresh Rehmannia Root) and Lugen (Scutellaria Root) to nourish yin, generate fluids, clear heat, and moisten the throat. If the child develops oral sores, one of the following can be applied to the affected area: Xigua Shuang (Watermelon Frost), Bingbeng San (Ice Boron Powder), or Xili San (Tin Class Powder). For severe hand and foot sores, one of the following can be used, mixed with sesame oil and applied to the sores: Ruyijinhuang San (Happy Golden Yellow Powder) or Qingdai San (Indigo Powder).
