Features: When it comes to Italian literature, people can readily name a string of brilliant names: poets Dante, Petrarch, Leopardi, Montale, and so on. However, when it comes to prose writers, there is much less familiarity. The reason is actually quite simple—we have long lacked a specialized and systematic introduction to Italian prose. Italian prose has become a garden in the vast garden of Italian literature that remains unopened to this day.
Italian prose inherits the tradition of ancient Roman prose and has a long history. The origins of Italian prose can be traced back to the distant Middle Ages. This book selects and compiles forty prose pieces by nineteen Italian classical and contemporary writers. Through these works, one can roughly grasp the history and current state, as well as the characteristics and styles of Italian prose. Italian prose is a rich treasure trove. It is hoped that as this treasure trove is mined, more Italian prose will be introduced to China in the future.
