A 14-year-old girl with recurrent tonsillitis

Patient's question:

Since the Spring Festival until now. Sore throat and swollen tonsils

Doctor's answer:

The first choice of antibiotics is penicillin. Those allergic to penicillin can opt for erythromycin, clindamycin, etc. For high fever, headache, and general body aches, antipyretic and analgesic agents such as aspirin can be used. If the condition does not improve after 2–3 days of treatment, it should be considered whether the infection is viral or caused by other bacteria. In such cases, antiviral drugs, sensitive antibiotics, or sulfonamide drugs can be used. Corticosteroids such as prednisone or dexamethasone may be used as needed.
