Features: The Practical Tutor for Double Bass is currently the only complete and scientifically systematic double bass teaching material published domestically. This textbook consists of four parts: Scales, Etudes, Ensemble Pieces, and Solo Repertoire. Following the principle of progressing from simple to complex and systematically integrating the content of these four parts, they are interconnected and complementary, forming a comprehensive teaching system.
The Etudes Part focuses on various technical exercises, including bowing and finger techniques for all positions, practice of various ornaments (appoggiaturas, mordents, trills, etc.), common orchestral techniques (pizzicato, tremolo, near-saddle bowing, near-fretboard bowing, bow striking the strings, muting), harmonics, double stops and chord practice, orchestral difficult passages, and concert etudes with piano accompaniment. Considering the characteristics of double bass learners in China, this textbook incorporates excellent etudes from different schools (German-Austrian, Czech, French, Russian, Italian, Hungarian, etc.) while also adapting some distinctive works from the cello, violin, and other instruments as needed. Additionally, famous excerpts from operas and symphonies have been included in every stage of practice, combining technical training with artistic application to achieve targeted learning.
