Children asked the doctor to take a look, but why are they still coughing all the time

Patient's question:

My child is three weeks and three months old. They have had a cough for over 20 days and are currently receiving intravenous fluids at Handan Maternal and Child Health Hospital. They have been on intravenous fluids for six days, with five days of Azithromycin, Xiyanhua, Bromhexine, Ceftriaxone, and Ribavirin. A Mycoplasma test was conducted, and the result was 1:40. They were then given another day of Amoxicillin, Xiyanhua, and Bromhexine. The doctor listened and said there’s nothing serious, just one side of the tonsil is red and swollen. The child said the innermost part hurts, and the doctor mentioned that the gums are congested and swollen. At night, the cough comes in bursts and is still quite severe. They are taking Jujube Red Cough Syrup and using Kaihoujian Children’s Spray.

Doctor's answer:

The child has a cough, which may be caused by respiratory infection. In this case, it is recommended to take Qingfei Huatan Zhike Granules and Cephalosporin antibiotics. Additionally, it is important to drink plenty of boiled water. There is no need to worry. If the condition worsens, it is advisable to undergo nebulization treatment. For a runny nose, drugs such as Houtong Granules and Xiaokaike should be taken.
