A one-month-old baby has small red bumps on their face.

Patient's question:

Red small bumps on the face, about the size of rice grains

Doctor's answer:

Eczema is a manifestation of an infant's allergic constitution, commonly seen in artificially fed infants. The onset of infantile eczema is mostly related to poor gastrointestinal digestion capacity in infants. As they grow older, their gastrointestinal function gradually improves, digestion ability strengthens, and their diet becomes more diverse. Most cases of infantile eczema gradually heal after the age of one and do not recur.
For children prone to eczema, the treatment involves using anti-allergic creams, which all contain a certain amount of hormones and should not be used long-term. Additionally, there is currently no effective treatment for this condition. Daily care should focus on wearing loose clothing made of cotton. When bathing or washing their face, the water should not be too hot, and soaps should be avoided. If the eczema is severe, some eczema cream can be applied.
