The emperor of the South Sea is called Shu, the emperor of the North Sea is called Hu, and the central emperor is called Hundun. Shu and Hu often made appointments to visit the central land where Hundun resided, and Hundun treated them very well. Shu and Hu privately discussed how to repay Hundun's kindness. Shu said, "Others have seven orifices for seeing, hearing, and breathing, but this good person doesn't." Hu said, "Let's open the orifices for him." So they drilled one hole into Hundun every day, spending seven days to open seven orifices. Unbeknownst to them, they ended up killing Hundun.
