Recurring fever in children

Patient's question:

6 days ago, in the afternoon, I had a high fever. The past two days, I experienced a runny nose and coughing. The medicine I took only worked for half a day or a few hours.

Doctor's answer:

Hello, your baby's fever may be caused by a bacterial infection or a cold. If the temperature is not above 38.5 degrees, it is generally not recommended to use fever-reducing medication. Physical cooling methods can be used instead, such as applying alcohol swabs or damp cloths to the baby's forehead or armpits. If there is an infection, taking antibacterial medication should suffice. Make sure your baby drinks plenty of fluids, which can help alleviate the condition. Wishing your baby a speedy recovery!
