Gu Zheng's Autobiography

Author: Gu Zhun
Publisher:
Publication Date: 2002-01-01
Features: Gu Zhun was diligent in reading, thinking, and writing. He was one of the earliest scholars in China to systematically argue for the inevitability of the existence of commodity and currency in socialism and advocate for the full play of the law of value. This required great courage at the time, and he paid a price for it. Although he endured punitive labor and personal humiliation in his later years, he never showed signs of spiritual collapse. On the contrary, adversity and the harsh realities led him to fundamentally reflect on the laws of historical progress and the future of the nation. In his last few years of life, he devoted all his energy to the study of history, economics, philosophy, and the theory of Marx and Engels, writing a large number of notes, the value of which is immeasurable. This book contains materials from Gu Zhun's "historical self-examination" written during the "Cultural Revolution" and other introspective writings about his life and thoughts, clearly marked by that era.
