Features: The history of newspapers is long, but their major development occurred in the 20th century. This textbook covers both aspects but focuses more on the former to meet the practical needs of undergraduate students in journalism departments. Drawing on the historical experience of newspaper editing from some countries around the world, particularly China's newspaper editing experience since the reform and opening-up, this textbook explains the various levels of newspaper editing from micro to macro: it briefly discusses contemporary newspaper editing, talent cultivation for newspaper editors, reporting systems, and the business of newspaper editing. In line with the practical needs of journalism students, it extensively explains the specific operational methods of newspaper editing, such as the selection and revision of news reports, news headlines, article layout, layout editing, design of layouts, and photo editing. Dedicated chapters introduce and analyze reporting planning and organization, fostering students' awareness and skills in news orientation, coordination, and more. The textbook is richly illustrated and highly practical and operational. Drawing on the historical experience of newspaper editing from some countries around the world, particularly China's newspaper editing experience since the reform and opening-up.
