Features: Barbels is a collection of short stories and a masterpiece by Hrabal. After its publication in 1964, Hrabal gained widespread fame. This collection of short stories, especially the one sharing the same name as the collection, well illustrates Hrabal's unique writing style. When people mention Hrabal today, the first image that comes to mind is Barbels. Barbels is a newly coined term by Hrabal himself, used to summarize a special type of character in his novels. Since this word cannot be found in dictionaries, Hrabal has repeatedly explained it in different contexts. Translating this word accurately into Chinese is a challenge.
