Features: Film is regarded as a "phenomenon of (human) fantasy." Compared to "image," "imago" emphasizes more on psychological and physiological sensations, co-constructing a complete form with life. Here, "imago" replaces the perception and impression of the projector's projected images at the birth of cinema. "Imago" also carries a certain presupposed "ideology." Imago Cinema is a series of book series that systematically organizes the works and creations of contemporary film masters. To be precise, it is a record of texts and images showing respect to the "author" directors. This is not an extensive exploration of film history, a scope that may be relatively unfamiliar to what people commonly know as "film directors." Therefore, the target audience of Imago Cinema was destined to be narrow from the beginning. The birth of Imago Cinema stems from the passion and sustained enthusiasm of a few for film. Here, it is hoped to establish an effective and healthy linguistic environment, fostering attention and scrutiny toward the "aesthetic value" of film beyond its "entertainment function," as well as surpassing the conventional "reception response" to watching films. Moreover, in the current era of rapidly expanding visual information and the lack of specialized research materials for in-depth film studies, if Imago Cinema can simplify the complexity and serve as a "reference tool" in the process of "understanding" film, this would be a certain value of Imago Cinema.
