Features: For China, prose is like climbing ladders, and what I write is prose. Prose has a tradition among Chinese intellectuals, with ancient historical and literary works filled with prose. Zhuangzi's allegories, the prose of the Wei and Jin periods, and the writings of the "Eight Great Masters of the Tang and Song Dynasties" are all excellent examples of prose. The May Fourth New Culture Movement absorbed foreign thoughts and developed prose creation, which can be broadly categorized into argumentative, lyrical, and narrative prose. The forms are diverse, including essays, short reviews, sketches, impromptu writings, travelogues, letters, diaries, reports, dispatches, and feature articles, all of which can be classified under these three categories of prose. Many outstanding writers have achieved great success in this genre, such as Lu Xun, Zhou Zuoren, Bing Xin, Yu Dafu, Zhu Ziqing, Feng Zikai, Lin Yutang, and many contemporary prose writers, all of whom have left behind enduring works.
