Features: Life requires two kinds of spaces—material space and spiritual space. As the flower of civilization, literature provides humanity with a vast spiritual space for survival. Human life is like flowing water, once gone, never to return. Only literature and art can often recapture people's past life experiences or lead them into another life that is worthy of aspiration. For this very reason, when you have finished your work and eaten your meal, sitting by your desk or under the shade of trees, with a book in hand, you can roam through the past and present, transcending the material world, gaining knowledge, refining your temperament, nourishing your life, and soothing your soul. Reading good literary works is like a good teacher offering guidance, like friends sharing tea at night, like lovers confiding in each other, or like listening to the wind and rain on a clear day. That is why I wrote it, and then I added a short passage titled "The Solitude of the Pen," with the final line being: "The pen is like a solitary bamboo, it can make literature rich, but it will make the person poor."
