Features: Leo Tolstoy is almost an insurmountable peak for all realist writers. Compared to Homer, Tolstoy can be said to be the creator of the epic. His works are often as strange as the Odyssey, yet as intimate as Hemingway's, a combination of the familiar and the unfamiliar, which is the unique atmosphere of his works. In the shaping of various unique characters and the profound and extensive dramatic effects, Tolstoy's works are deeply imbued with a Shakespearean style. Tolstoy was not only a great Russian writer but also a moral philosopher and social reformer, and an outstanding thinker of the 19th century. The ideological and artistic power of his complete works has left an indelible mark on world literature. The Selected Works of Leo Tolstoy inherits the spiritual legacy of an outstanding great writer, moral philosopher, social reformer, and thinker. This book is a collection of selected works by Leo Tolstoy. Leo Tolstoy (1828–1910) lived in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Russia, during the transition from feudal serfdom to a capitalist society with severe feudal remnants. He spent his life earnestly exploring life and social reform while diligently cultivating the literary garden, writing numerous exquisite works, with his complete works comprising 90 volumes. His works are not only records of his life and social exploration but also more broadly and vividly reflect the characteristics of the era he lived in. Many of them have become immortal works in world literature. It is universally recognized that Tolstoy was one of the greatest literary geniuses of Russia at that time and one of the few literary giants in human history to enjoy a worldwide reputation.
