Features: All the Chopin Nocturnes known to date have been collected in this edition. Similar to other genres, the publication of the works often deviates from Chopin's own wishes; among the 21 nocturnes, 3 were published after the composer's death in 1849. Thus, arranging them strictly by chronological order is not advisable. For this reason, these 3 works are not placed in the chronological order but are separately positioned at the end of the collection. This volume follows the editorial principles of the other volumes in this series. When multiple original sources are available for reference, the edition strives to base itself on the so-called consistent "level of original materials." This foundation is often established through the use of specific criteria in manuscripts and first editions published in several countries.
