Has anyone had their child wear orthokeratology lenses?

Patient's question:

No

Doctor's answer:

The most common side effect of orthokeratology is corneal hypoxia. In normal individuals, the cornea is already in a physiological state of hypoxia during sleep, and wearing orthokeratology lenses can exacerbate this hypoxia. The first cells to be affected by hypoxia are the corneal endothelial cells. If the hypoxia worsens, it can lead to dysfunction of the corneal endothelial cells, such as corneal edema and bullae.
