Features: Pan Yuting (1925—1991) was a native of Shanghai and a renowned scholar of the I Ching in the modern era. During his lifetime, he held positions such as Professor at the Institute of Ancient Books, East China Normal University, Vice President of the Chinese I Ching Research Association, Vice President of the Shanghai Taoist Association, President of the Shanghai I Ching Research Association, and Editor-in-Chief of Shanghai Taoism. In his early years, Pan Yuting studied at the Education Department of Shanghai St. John's University. After graduation, he followed masters such as Zhou Shanpei, Tang Wenhui, Xiong Shili, Ma Yifu, Yang Jianxing, and Xue Xueqian to study Chinese and Western scholarship. Dedicated to learning for decades, he integrated and synthesized knowledge, forming his own unique style, which gained considerable influence both domestically and internationally. Pan Yuting's lifelong focus was on the changes of the universe and ancient and modern phenomena, with a vision to bridge the connection between Eastern and Western cultures. He had profound insights and experiences in the I Ching and Taoism within Chinese academia. Pan Yuting was a prolific author, whose research covered diverse topics, offering great inspiration. His works represent one of the significant achievements of Chinese I Ching scholarship in the 20th century and also one of the important accomplishments of Chinese culture in the same era. This book was compiled by Zhang Wenjiang based on the preserved by Pan Yuting's wife, Jin Deyi. The book explains the I Ching classics and commentaries in a tabular format, divided into four volumes with 100 tables, each accompanied by explanations. Volume 1: Shuo Gua, Xu Gua, Za Gua; Volume 2: Upper Canon (Tuan Shang, Xiang Shang); Volume 3: Lower Canon (Tuan Xia, Xiang Xia); Volume 4: Xisi and Yanyan. This book serves as an introductory guide to understanding the I Ching classics and commentaries, making it a foundational text.
