He graduated from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Peking University in 1984 and obtained a Master's degree in Literature from Hunan Normal University in 1988. He is currently a professor at the School of Literature, Central South University. He has written the novels "The Water Margin" and "Once at the Edge of the World" (overseas edition title "White Snow and Red Dust"), the theoretical work "A Hundred Years of Literature and Postmodernism," and dozens of academic papers on literary theory as well as essays such as "The Weight of the Spirit" and "Sacrifice Without Witnesses."
