Features: Madagascar, I am captivated by the mystery of its name, the rhythm and rhyme, and I long to express the distant yet real beauty of nature and humanity on this vast African island in the Indian Ocean. When I wandered through the island in a dreamlike state, sketching, the presidential election saw fierce competition between the two factions, in a state of chaos. I was swept up in large-scale oppressive black protests, amidst crowds of onlookers, feeling the deafening roar of tear gas and grenades, the thick smoke, watching the black skin stained with blood, black and red, approaching, spreading. I rushed day and night, through two mountainous days, hiring local tribespeople to carry my paintings through the chaotic blockade lines, finally reaching the port city of Tamatave to hold an exhibition. I want to share my feelings, colors, lines, and ink with those interested in beauty and life. They are not just mine, but also belong to all those who possess sensitivity and understanding. This book is my sketch in paint and words, a portrayal of beauty and pain. (Author's words)
