Electrical Engineering Grounding Technology

Features: Good grounding is crucial for any electrical engineering. While grounding technology is not complex in theory, where and how to ground are often challenging issues for engineers in practical applications. This book avoids deep theoretical derivations and presents grounding techniques for power systems under various power supply methods in an accessible manner, supplemented by numerous detailed charts. It covers the design, construction layout, cable laying, and splicing of grounding wires, as well as citations from some electrical codes and an extensive table for wire gauge unit conversions. This book provides a comprehensive reference manual for electrical engineers engaged in grounding design and construction, and can also serve as a teaching and training resource or reference for related standard-setting personnel.
Mr. Ronald P. O’Riley served as a member of the National Electrical Code (NEC) drafting committee and an arbitrator in the U.S. and has hosted multiple NEC seminars and electrical engineer qualification training sessions. This book is a distillation of his years of field experience and a practical guide for implementing U.S. electrical codes. Although the U.S. Electrical Code differs from China’s and the power supply systems are also different, its comprehensive grounding technology system is still worth learning from and referencing. Moreover, as domestic standards in the electrical and electronic industry gradually align with international standards, this book also serves as a window for understanding foreign standards.
This book was translated by Professor Sha Fei, graduate student Lü Feiyanyan, Tan Haifeng, and others from the Antielectromagnetic Interference Research Center at Beijing Jiaotong University. Students Ding Jianjin, Meng Donglin, Xiao Dan, Liu Dong, Su Xiaohua, He Bo, Tu Yong, Wu Xiang, Wu Ran, Wang Haijuan, and Zhang Yiqiang participated in partial translations and manuscript editing. Sha Fei and Lü Feiyanyan proofread the entire book, with Sha Fei performing the final review. The translation has corrected some printing errors in the original book, and sections requiring discussion are marked with "Translator’s Note." Despite repeated proofreading, due to the translators’ limitations, inaccuracies may still exist. We welcome readers’ criticism and corrections.
