Each lesson focuses on a part of the language related to one topic. The entire set consists of three volumes, with 15 lessons per volume, totaling 45 lessons in the book. Each volume forms a complete cycle.
Volume 1 contains the basic content of the 15 topics. Once mastered, it enables simple Chinese communication. The next two volumes gradually expand on this foundation, enriching and deepening each topic. Volume 3 also intentionally incorporates some business and trade-related phrases to enhance the book's practicality.
Each volume includes five sections: Basic Sentence Patterns, Texts, Notes, Exercises, and Vocabulary. The texts are primarily in dialogue form to train listening and speaking skills. Most texts also include short narrative passages to train reading and comprehension skills. All texts are accompanied by English translations. The dialogues in all three volumes and the narrative passages in Volume 1 are annotated with Pinyin.
The texts and sentence patterns are provided with concise and practical notes to explain grammar. Each lesson includes 10 sentence patterns and about 20 vocabulary words, totaling 450 sentence patterns and approximately 900 Chinese words (including phrases) across the three volumes.
This textbook follows the principles of repetition and gradual progression in the arrangement of vocabulary and grammar points to facilitate learning.
