Features: Regarding the versions of traditional pieces, the ones provided in this tutorial are merely illustrative. Since the versions of traditional pieces for most ethnic instruments are often varied in (folk) performances, this is determined by the inherent flexibility of ethnic music. We should embrace and preserve this cultural phenomenon and its characteristics. However, candidates should also note: First, the version of the piece chosen by the candidate should indeed be the same piece as the one in the textbook, not a different piece with the same name; second, the technical and musical expressive difficulty of the version chosen by the candidate should be roughly equivalent to the level of the version provided in the textbook. As long as it is not lower than the level of the version in the textbook, candidates need not worry about using a different version of the same piece from this textbook. All the pieces in this textbook (excluding etudes) have been tested and proven through years of domestic examination practice. This edition has added a certain number of etudes, hoping to contribute to the improvement of (extracurricular) teaching standards for the zheng (Chinese zither) in the future.
