Eyes see things with a central dark spot, distortion of vision, and decreased vision

Patient's question:

Eyes see things with a central dark spot, distortion of vision, vision loss, and a black spot in the retina. What's the problem? Is it serious?

Doctor's answer:

Analysis of the condition: When normal people look at a white object or the blue sky, they may notice small floating dots or fine filaments in their field of vision. Sometimes, they can also see them when closing their eyes, but objective examination cannot reveal any vitreous body abnormalities. This phenomenon is known as physiological floaters.
Advice: It is generally believed to be caused by the projection of cells from the vitreous cortex or blood cells moving within the retinal blood vessels onto the retinal membrane. No treatment is required.
