Author: [US] Michael Bishop
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2004-05-01
Features: The title of this book is intentionally designed to be misleading. Although I have the honor of winning the Nobel Prize with my friend and former colleague Harold Varmus, I have not written a tutorial on how to pursue the Nobel Prize. I could not do so, nor would I want to. Instead, I wrote this book with a certain sense of contradiction, and I do not place much value on the glamorous trappings that come with it. Michael Bishop is rare in the scientific community for his extensive knowledge of literature and poetry. More importantly, like his rich life experience, he can remember what he has read and think deeply about it. He fully deserves the Nobel Prize he won. He advocates for scientific research in politics, offers insightful views on cancer and microorganisms, and dedicates himself body and soul to research—all of which provide abundant nourishment for his writing.
