How is neurocysticercosis treated?

Patient's question:

Hello doctor, a few days ago I suddenly experienced numbness on my right side and difficulty speaking. I went to the hospital for a CT scan. It was diagnosed as brain edema. After surgery, the tissue examination revealed cysticerci. I took some medication at home. Do I still need surgery? How are the cysticerci removed? I have had brain edema surgery. I have had brain edema surgery.

Doctor's answer:

Please perform the following tests: magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain, cysticercus antigen and antibody tests in blood and cerebrospinal fluid, and cerebrospinal fluid cytology (pay special attention to the presence of eosinophilic cell). If live brain cysticerci are confirmed, re-administer anti-cysticercosis medication. Additionally, check your and your family members' stools for cysticercus eggs. If tapeworm eggs are found, undergo deworming treatment together.
