Patient's question:
My friend's child was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome in children, what's going onDoctor's answer:
In children with nephrotic syndrome, blood tests can reveal a decrease in plasma albumin, causing the normal ratio of albumin to globulin to be disrupted, leading to an inversion of the ratio. Plasma cholesterol levels may also be elevated. Some children may develop skin striae (similar to those seen in pregnant women) on their thighs, inner arms, abdomen, and chest, along with a significant reduction in urine output.
