Author: Xue Rongjiu
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2004-04-01
Features: The articles and travelogues included in this book were written either spontaneously or later in reflection. For example, "The Mentors Who Guided My Teaching Journey" was a commemorative piece written for the 50th anniversary of the school's founding. "Notes on the Red Horse in the Year of the Horse" was composed in 2002 for the lunar year of the horse, reflecting on 1958 when, as a third-year university student, I came to the remote northwest frontier—Xinjiang—to organize ethnic minority groups in capturing muskrats, spending long periods on horseback and forming an unforgettable bond with these animals. "Hu Jintao Secretary Visits Me" recounts an amusing incident in 1988 when then-Guizhou Provincial Party Secretary Hu Jintao visited the teachers of our school who were delivering lectures to senior provincial officials at the "Outward-Oriented Economy Study Session" in Guizhou. The writings in this collection vary in composition date but are generally arranged chronologically based on the events they describe. The book covers narratives about the author's teaching life, tributes to the mentors who helped him embark on his teaching career, reflections on Hu Jintao's early guidance to teachers, the author's pursuit, practice, and insights into teaching methods, experiences in nurturing students and personal growth in teaching, thoughts and suggestions on discipline construction and development, insights gained from delivering lectures on the World Trade Organization, and personal reflections on sightseeing and travel during social teaching activities.
