Features: This book attempts to introduce Win32 assembly programming from the perspective of application development, starting with the simple example "Hello, World" and progressing to more complex programs such as multithreading, registry operations, and network communication. Through over 60 examples ranging from simple to advanced, it gradually delves into various aspects of Win32 assembly programming. The author has been engaged in assembly programming for over a decade, starting from DOS assembly in the 8086 era to the current Win32 assembly programming. From a beginner to someone who can now use Win32 assembly to address most programming needs, the journey has involved a long period of exploration and numerous setbacks. Therefore, the author is well aware of the challenges beginners may face. However, there are very few books dedicated to Win32 assembly programming. For this reason, the author has set the goal of this book as: to enable readers to get started and eventually master Win32 assembly programming, rather than books that delve into the mysteries of the system. From this objective, the book's selection of content avoids topics that have already been extensively discussed in other books, as covering everything is unrealistic. Comprehensive content often sacrifices depth, and profound content must focus on a central theme. Therefore, the book does not delve deeply into the foundational aspects of assembly typically covered in general textbooks, such as processor architecture and protected mode, nor does it plan to cover Windows drivers, COM programming, or other topics that might be labeled as "advanced techniques." The main focus of this book is on the differences between 32-bit macro assembly and DOS assembly, as well as the assembly implementation of Win32 applications. In the Windows environment, 32-bit assembly language is a completely new programming language. It uses the same API interface as C++, not only for developing large-scale software but also as the best way to understand the inner workings of the operating system. Starting from the simple example "Hello, World," the book gradually explores the various aspects of Win32 assembly language through over 60 examples, covering complex programs such as multithreading, registry operations, and network communication. The author, Luo Yunbin, has over a decade of experience in assembly programming and is the founder of the assembly programming website http://asm.yeah.net and the assembly programming forum http://win32asm.yeah.net. This book is a summary of the author's years of programming experience and is suitable for readers who wish to write Windows programs using Win32 assembly language.
