Acute simple gastritis

Patient's question:

What should acute simple gastritis patients avoid eating?

Doctor's answer:

Suffering from gastritis requires eliminating various potential pathogenic factors, such as avoiding foods and medications that strongly stimulate the gastric mucosa, quitting smoking and drinking alcohol. Pay attention to dietary hygiene and prevent overeating. The triple therapy for gastritis (a treatment method involving the simultaneous use of three anti-H. pylori drugs) is commonly used. The most frequently used triple therapy is as follows: drug combinations, dosage, and administration:
(1) Potassium bismuth citrate 240mg + Amoxicillin 750mg + Metronidazole 400mg.
(2) Potassium bismuth citrate 240mg + Erythromycin 500mg + Metronidazole 400mg.
(3) Potassium bismuth citrate 240mg + Tetracycline 500mg + Metronidazole 400mg.
Choose any one of the above drug combinations to take, with each medication administered in the dosages listed twice daily (once in the morning and once in the afternoon), for a course of 7–14 days. After completing one course, continue taking potassium bismuth citrate alone for 6 weeks, with the same dosage and administration as before.
This method can effectively kill Helicobacter pylori and protect the gastric mucosa. Persist in taking the medication to prevent recurrence. It is essential to quit smoking, drinking alcohol, and consuming spicy foods. Eat less starchy foods such as potatoes, taro, vermicelli, glass noodles, sweet potatoes, and vermicelli.
