Features: Liu Bingsen, styled Shu'an, styled Hai Cun, styled Liu Wu in his youth. Born in August 1937 in Shanghai, his ancestral home is Wuqing, Tianjin. In the summer of 1962, he graduated from the Chinese Painting Landscape Department of the Fine Arts Department at Beijing Art College. In the same autumn, he began working at the Palace Museum of Beijing, engaged in the reproduction and research of ancient calligraphy and painting until now. He is currently a researcher at the Palace Museum of Beijing, vice president of the China Calligraphers Association, and chairman of the Calligraphy Education Professional Committee of the China Educational Society. He is also a distinguished professor of the China Calligraphy and Painting Correspondence University, consultant of the Japan White Fan Calligraphy Association, member of the China-Japan Friendship 21st Century Committee, and standing committee member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Professor Liu Bingsen has visited North and South America, Europe, and Southeast Asian countries successively to hold exhibitions and give lectures, including over thirty trips to Japan. In May 1990, he was honored with the "Fujisan Art Award" from Japan. He has published many collections of calligraphy works and literary works, including the prose collection "Ziyuan Autumn Grass."
