A baby on a full moon is breastfeeding and has diarrhea

Patient's question:

The baby just turned one month old and has been breastfeeding from me, but has been having frequent diarrhea. I heard from others that this is called "breast milk diarrhea." However, the baby's stool is so watery, it's like water, and even when urinating, it sprays a little. This happens only when breastfeeding.

Doctor's answer:

Analysis of the condition: Hello, the most common cause of diarrhea in children is infection. Additionally, incomplete gastrointestinal function in infants, allergies to breast milk or certain foods, can also lead to diarrhea. It is recommended to conduct a stool culture test for the child.
Advice: Most cases of infant diarrhea develop rapidly, and frequent diarrhea can cause rapid loss of fluids and nutrients in the body, leading to acute dehydration. At home, parents can mix 20 grams of sugar (two level spoons) and 1.75 grams of salt (half a beer bottle cap) into 500 milliliters of boiling water (or rice water) to prepare oral rehydration solution.
If the child has fewer than four bowel movements per day, they can only take Mamiaoi (a probiotic supplement) and add it to milk below 40 degrees Celsius. The dosage can be once a day for 24 hours, or half a dose every 12 hours, but the remaining half dose should be discarded because it contains probiotics, which lose effectiveness after prolonged storage.
If the child has more than four bowel movements per day, Mamiaoi should be taken along with Smida, which is also added to milk and does not affect the efficacy of the medication.
