A full moon baby eats breast milk and has diarrhea

Patient's question:

The baby just turned one month old and has been breastfeeding from me, but has been having frequent diarrhea. I heard from others that this is called "breast milk diarrhea." However, the baby's stool is so watery, it's like water, and even when urinating, it sprays a little. This happens whenever they are breastfeeding.

Doctor's answer:

Analysis of the condition: Hello, the most common cause of diarrhea in children is infection. Additionally, incomplete gastrointestinal function in young children, as well as allergies to breast milk or certain foods, can also lead to diarrhea. It is recommended to conduct a stool culture test for the child.
Advice: Most cases of pediatric diarrhea begin suddenly, and frequent diarrhea can cause rapid loss of fluids and nutrients in the body, leading to acute dehydration. At home, parents can mix 20 grams of sugar (two level spoons) and 1.75 grams of salt (half a bottle cap) into 500 milliliters of boiling water (or rice soup) to prepare an oral rehydration solution.
If the child has fewer than four bowel movements per day, they can only take Mamiaoi and add it to milk below 40 degrees Celsius. Take one dose at a time, once every 24 hours, or half a dose once every 12 hours. However, the remaining half dose should be discarded because it contains probiotics, which lose effectiveness after prolonged storage.
If the child has more than four bowel movements per day, continue taking Mamiaoi and add Simida, also mixing it with milk. This will not affect the medication's efficacy.
