Methods for treating infant diaper rash

Patient's question:

Hello everyone, my baby is 40 days old. He's a boy, and there are small red spots on his inner thighs. When he urinates, I use warm water to clean him, but it's still not working. Could you please tell me how to treat diaper rash in infants?

Doctor's answer:

My child is two months old, and I think this method works really well. Before, he used to get diaper rashes often, but after using this method, they stopped.
First, place a slightly thicker layer of toilet paper on the diaper, then put a baby waterproof pad on top. The waterproof pad allows urine and poop to seep through into the toilet paper, keeping the bottom dry and preventing it from sagging. When it's time to use the diaper, you don't need to wash the bottom every time—just apply baby powder when changing the diaper (though this depends on your baby's situation. If your baby only poops every few days, you may need to wash the bottom after a few diaper changes. If your baby poops several times a day, follow the previous method).
After every bowel movement, you must wash the bottom and then apply Johnson's Baby Powder. Be sure to cover every crease when applying the powder. Also, make sure the diaper is thoroughly cleaned and dried—do not let soaps or other chemicals irritate the skin. The diaper must be dried completely, or else it may cause eczema. Additionally, change the diaper frequently.
