Features: The study of ancient inscriptions holds a certain position in history and archaeology. For this research, reference books are urgently needed. Recognizing this, I invited relevant experts to discuss and revise the existing "Oracle Bone Script Compendium" and "Bronze Inscription Compendium" in August 1956. The revised edition of the Bronze Inscription Compendium was published in 1959. The revised edition of the Oracle Bone Script Compendium was jointly discussed in terms of its editing style with Mr. Sun Haibo of the Historical Research Institute of Henan Province, and President Guo Moruo also provided written guidance. After the initial draft was completed, it underwent multiple revisions. The revised edition differs greatly from the 1934 preliminary edition, with more complete materials and the incorporation of many new research findings. The main text and appendices of this book contain a total of 4,672 characters, some of which can be merged, and the current oracle bone inscriptions have been supplemented with over 500 additional characters. To facilitate character lookup, we have assigned sequential numbers to the entire book.
