Can people with hepatitis B have children?

Patient's question:

It wasn't until last May that I discovered I had hepatitis B with a positive result, and I have been taking adefovir for a year.

Doctor's answer:

Women with hepatitis B can have children as long as their liver function is normal. It is recommended that pregnant women receive the high-efficiency hepatitis B immune globulin in the last three months of pregnancy (7th, 8th, and 9th month). After birth, the child should receive the first dose of high-efficiency hepatitis B immune globulin and 30 micrograms of hepatitis B vaccine within 24 hours. Subsequently, the child should also receive high-efficiency hepatitis B immune globulin in the 2nd and 3rd month, and a 30-microgram hepatitis B vaccine in the 2nd and 6th month. This approach generally maximizes the possibility of preventing the transmission of hepatitis B to the child.
