Patient's question:
When the baby has an episode, they foam at the mouth, turn bluish, and are full of tremors. After the episode, they are the same as a normal child. I just want to confirm whether it is really epilepsy.Doctor's answer:
Based on your child, it is likely to be petit mal epilepsy. Clinically, it is characterized by: a brief loss of consciousness during an episode, suddenly stopping the activity. It is two eyes staring blankly, interruption of speech or movement, standing or sitting motionless, pale face, expressionless face, dropping objects in hand, not responding to. It does not cause falls, sometimes accompanied by involuntary movements, such as chewing, fiddling with buttons, and twitching of the face, lips, tongue, and one limb, lasting from a few seconds to several dozen seconds, not exceeding 1 minute. After the episode, the child continues the activity they were previously engaged in. Although this type of seizure is not as severe as a grand mal seizure, it should still be treated with active methods.
