Patient's question:
Friend had a child two days ago. Recently, he doesn't know what's wrong with his body and has been having problems. Later, I found out that he was suffering from an emotional issue. It turns out that the baby has neonatal ABO hemolytic disease. I don't know what symptoms this disease has.Doctor's answer:
Hello, compared to Rh hemolytic disease, the symptoms are milder, with jaundice being the main clinical manifestation. Jaundice appears earlier (24-36 hours) and deepens rapidly. Serum bilirubin levels can reach 255 μmol/L (15 mg/dL) or higher, with a few exceeding 340 μmol/L (20 mg/dL). If not treated promptly, it may also lead to bilirubin encephalopathy. Anemia and hepatosplenomegaly are both mild. Fetal hydrops is even rarer.
