Can congenital childhood ADHD be cured?

Patient's question:

Child aged 2, bites own hand with mouth

Doctor's answer:

The drugs used to treat this condition can be categorized into central nervous system stimulants, antidepressants, antipsychotic drugs, and anticonvulsants, among others. However, central nervous system stimulants such as methylphenidate (Ritalin) or dextroamphetamine are commonly used medications. Below are their descriptions.
① Methylphenidate (Ritalin): Currently a commonly used medication. The recommended dose is 5–10 mg per time, taken twice daily in the morning and afternoon. Avoid taking it in the evening to prevent insomnia. Most children take a daily dose of 20 mg or less. Since stimulants can affect physical development, it is recommended to use the medication only during school hours and discontinue it on weekends and holidays. Children under 6 years old are generally not prescribed this medication, as it has the characteristic of less resistance development.
② Dextroamphetamine (Dextroamphetamine, Dexedrine): Also a commonly used medication, with a dose of 2.5–5 mg per time, taken twice daily in the morning and afternoon. Most children take a daily dose of 10 mg or less. Close monitoring of pulse and blood pressure changes is necessary.
