Biographies of Persons in the History of the Communist Party of China

Features: On May 22, 2001, Xinhua News Agency sent a press release to major media outlets across the country. On May 23, the "Domestic Affairs" section of the People's Liberation Army Daily and the "Major News" section of Beijing Daily were among the first to report the news from Xinhua News Agency, placing it prominently and in considerable detail. Subsequently, major newspapers across the country followed suit. On May 22, 2001, CCTV's "News Broadcast" covered the letter from Li Peng to the Research Association of the History of the Communist Party of China and the grand occasion of the publication forum at the Great Hall of the People in a prominent position and for nearly three minutes. CCTV's "Evening News" continued the coverage the same day. On the morning of May 23, CCTV's "Oriental Times" program provided a special report. On May 23, 2001, both the People's Daily and the Guangming Daily featured the letter from Li Peng, the grand occasion of the forum, and the main content of the selected volume of Theof the Historical Figures of the Communist Party of China's History in prominent positions on their front pages, with each article running about 500-600 words. On May 23, 2001, the Economic Daily also placed the headline news "Li Peng Writes Letter to Celebrate the Publication of the Selected Volume of Theof the Historical Figures of the Communist Party of China's History" on its front page.
To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, after approval from relevant departments of the Central Committee of the Party, the Research Association of the History of the Communist Party of China decided to select 263 outstanding biographies of historical figures from Theof the Historical Figures of the Communist Party of China's History (Volumes 1-100) and jointly publish the selected 10 volumes of Theof the Historical Figures of the Communist Party of China's History as a gift for the Party's 80th anniversary. The association also invited Deng Liqun to write the preface.
