Features: The Chinese-English Technical Science Dictionary is a companion volume to the English-Chinese Technical Science Dictionary. Since its publication in 1997, the English-Chinese Technical Science Dictionary has received widespread acclaim from readers. Many have requested the publication of a comprehensive technical science dictionary in Chinese-English to meet their work and study needs. To fulfill this demand, we have organized a team of scientific and technological experts proficient in both Chinese and English, along with highly skilled translators, to extensively collect and organize materials, and meticulously compile this Chinese-English Technical Science Dictionary.
The Chinese-English Technical Science Dictionary contains over 4,000 commonly used single-character entries (Chinese characters) and nearly 150,000 words and phrases, combining the characteristics of a general lexicon and a technical dictionary. During compilation, we have balanced broad coverage with a focus on professionalism. In addition to basic terms, the dictionary includes common professional vocabulary spanning fields such as astronomy, geography, oceanography, agriculture, biology and biotechnology, medicine, chemistry and chemical engineering, machinery, electronics and electrical engineering, coal, metallurgy, textiles, food, geology, construction, transportation, nuclear technology, computer science, law, economics, military science, aviation, environmental protection, music, printing, as well as fundamental sciences like mathematics, physics, and philosophy.
Technical terms in the dictionary adhere to the standardized names, generic drug names, standard terms, and professional usage prescribed by national regulations. To enhance user convenience, the dictionary also includes some common words, idioms, place names, and company names.
The Chinese-English Technical Science Dictionary follows the arrangement where each Chinese character (single-character entry) lists words and phrases beginning with that character. All single-character entries, words, and phrases are arranged in ascending order, making them easier to locate and use.
Maintaining the features of the English-Chinese Technical Science Dictionary, the Chinese-English Technical Science Dictionary employs leading words, "head-cut" words, and replacement words to achieve a compact format while ensuring ease of reference. It also retains some symbols. The dictionary strives to minimize its size, providing readers with more vocabulary and information.
