Features: "The essence beyond form reveals painting's emotion, the robe of the Southern School values calligraphy. Alas, the vulgar lacks immortal bones, only carrying gold and mechanical actions." This is an early inscription poem by Mr. Lu Weizhao, whichs the fundamental understanding of a versatile scholar toward the literati-influenced Chinese painting. Although Mr. Lu Weizhao's academic and artistic career coincided with his contemporaries in the 20th century, as a scholar who dedicated his life to studying traditional Chinese literature and history, his goals, paths, and methods were still similar to those of his predecessors. Due to his rigorous academic approach, Mr. Lu Weizhao, despite his broad scope of studies, primarily engaged in foundational academic work, such as organizing and preserving China's cultural heritage, throughout his long research and teaching career.
