What tests are needed for children with IgA nephropathy?

Patient's question:

A child of one of our neighbors has been experiencing severe edema and persistent low fever these days. The child's mother is very worried, but her husband is not at home. So, she asked me to accompany her to the hospital. The doctor examined the child and said that the child has developed pediatric IgA nephropathy and needs to undergo some related tests.

Doctor's answer:

Hello, IgA nephropathy can sometimes be accompanied by mild systemic symptoms, such as muscle pain, dysuria, and lower back pain, as well as low-grade fever. The morphology of urinary cells is primarily degenerative, indicating glomerular hematuria, but mixed hematuria is sometimes also observed. It is more common in adolescents. After an episode of gross hematuria, urinary red blood cells may disappear, or it may transition to persistent microscopic hematuria. Gross hematuria tends to recur.
