Forgeries and seals with overly faded inscriptions are excluded, totaling 501 pieces.
2. All illustrations in this volume are presented in original size, and efforts have been made to obtain the original impressions as the basis for reference and research.
3. The jade seals are arranged chronologically by the Warring States, Qin, Han, and Jin periods. For each era, the first official seal is listed first, followed by private seals. Private seals are further sorted by the stroke count of their first character, with those unidentifiable at the end of each period.
4. Each seal is accompanied by an explanatory number and text. The sources of information are marked with abbreviations, and readers can refer to the appendix "Cited Catalogues and Sources" for the original books.
