The lead editor of this book was commissioned by the Committee of Higher Education Self-Tuition Examinations to compile the Public English Test II Syllabus (Part I and II), College English Self-Tuition Coursebook (Volumes I and II), and College English Self-Tuition Coursebook Companion (Volumes I and II). All of these books were published and distributed by Higher Education Press. However, due to the busy schedules of the editors at the time, they were unable to prepare a mock test collection suitable for the exam.
Now, as the number of students studying College English Self-Tuition Coursebook and taking English proficiency exams continues to grow, learners are increasingly seeking a test collection that aligns with the exam syllabus to help them monitor and assess their progress. In response to this demand, we were invited by Higher Education Press to compile National Higher Education Self-Tuition Examination English (I) Mock Tests and Exam Preparation Guide and National Higher Education Self-Tuition Examination English (II) Mock Tests and Exam Guidance, to assist English self-learners in evaluating their learning outcomes and adapting to national unified exams.
The English (I) volume corresponds to the Public English (I) Self-Tuition Examination, while the English (II) volume corresponds to the Public English (II) Self-Tuition Examination. The four editors who contributed to the actual writing of this book have all taught College English Self-Tuition Coursebook multiple times. Some of them have also participated in the writing of College English Self-Tuition Coursebook, as well as in the setting and marking of national unified exams, making them very familiar with the exam syllabus, questions, teaching materials, and learner needs.
Each of the (I) and (II) volumes includes ten sets of tests and solutions, with four sets being actual questions used in national unified exams over the past two years. The remaining six sets are simulated tests. These simulated tests strictly adhere to the principles, question types, content, difficulty, and coverage requirements of the exam syllabus, making them true-to-life practice materials.
